Pharmacological effect
Calcium carbonate neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Calcium is a macroelement that participates in the formation of bone tissue, the process of blood clotting and is necessary for maintaining stable cardiac activity and the transmission of nerve impulses.
Magnesium carbonate interacts with hydrochloric acid in gastric juice, forming soluble magnesium chloride and carbon dioxide. A small amount of magnesium is slowly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, but a pronounced resorptive effect does not develop. It has a mild laxative effect.
Magnesium helps to normalize and activate metabolic processes. It has antispasmodic, antiarrhythmic and antiplatelet effects. Regulates the synthesis of energy, proteins and nucleic acids, the balance of ions in the muscles, including the processes of energy transfer, storage and use.
Sodium bicarbonate regulates blood hormone receptors. It has alkaline properties, increases the alkaline reserve of the blood, when ingested, it quickly neutralizes the hydrochloric acid of the gastric juice and has a quick but short-term effect. Irritates the receptors of the gastric mucosa, increases the release of gastrin with secondary activation of secretion, can cause discomfort in the stomach (due to its expansion) and constipation.
Pharmacokinetics
As a result of the interaction of the drug with gastric juice, soluble calcium and magnesium salts are formed in the stomach. The degree of absorption of calcium and magnesium from these compounds depends on the dose of the drug. The maximum absorption is 10% of calcium and 15-20% of magnesium.
A small amount of absorbed calcium and magnesium is excreted by the kidneys. Insoluble salts are formed in the intestines, which are excreted in the feces.
Pharmacokinetics in special clinical situations
In case of impaired renal function, the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the plasma may increase.
Indications Demics
Symptoms associated with increased acidity of gastric juice and reflux esophagitis: heartburn, acid reflux, periodic pain in the stomach, a feeling of fullness or heaviness in the epigastric region, dyspepsia (including symptoms caused by dietary errors, taking medications, alcohol abuse, coffee, nicotine).
Directions for use:
Adults and children over 12 years old take one or two tablets after meals.
Duration of treatment
Within 30 days.
Side effects
Allergic reactions: very rarely – rash, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic reactions.
If the recommended doses are observed, the drug is well tolerated by the body.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
When used in recommended doses, the drug does not pose a risk to the fetus or child.
The use of the drug is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.
Drug interactions
Changes in the acidity of gastric juice can lead to a decrease in the rate and extent of absorption of other drugs taken simultaneously, so the drugs should be taken 1-2 hours before or after taking antacids.
Concomitantly used drugs reduce the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, cardiac glycosides, levothyroxine, iron preparations, phosphates and fluorides.
When used simultaneously with thiazide diuretics, the concentration of calcium in the serum should be regularly monitored.
